I kind of live my life in themes. If I'm going to something I deem classy, I wear pearls. If I'm going to the rodeo, I wear uhh.... jeans. If I'm going to a concert, I try to find the most punkish-looking outfit in my wardrobe (which isn't punk. at all.). I think it's more fun to try and match your clothes/life to fit your situation.
So today, I'm going on a picnic. Of course I googled "best picnic foods" to see which are the most typical. I almost bought picnic-looking napkins. I almost bought watermelon because how can you have a picnic without watermelon??? (Easy, you have it with strawberries... yum) I love taking a theme and making it work. In that respect, I feel a little like Sandra Lee..... Yikes. I just think it's more fun to focus on a theme and stay with it.
That being said, the menu is:
Cold roasted chicken (not the most flavorful I've ever made, but let's not talk about how upset that makes me.)
Grandpa's rolls
Potato salad (Some of the potatoes are too hard............... No comment)
Strawberry pie
Am I missing anything? I realize there isn't really a vegetable, but I'm okay with that. Yuumm, I'm really excited. Now all I need is for someone to wake up so we can go.... (And can I just say, if I ever get married, I will make an awesome wife. That's all.)
Speaking of themes, I promised my niece Michelle that we'd have a Princess Pampering Party. (Boy do I love alliteration sometimes.) BUT. I don't know what we'd do at this party. We're going to watch a princess movie or two, paint our nails, and what? Ashley suggested we make lip gloss, which would be fun as well, but I'd like more ideas! Y'all with daughters have to have done something like this before, right? Help me, dear readers, you're my only hope.

Can I come?
What makes you think you would be a terrible wife? A few hard potatoes in a potato salad does not a bad wife make. I know. I've made a few, but my husband still keeps me around.
Doing hair in a princess up-do is always a big hit.
You can buy from craft stores, like Michael's, foam princess wands. You can decorate them with ribbon, jewel stickers, beads, etc. I've made a couple. They don't last forever, but they're fun while they do.
Christa, I think you misread what I wrote. I said AWESOME hahahaha.
menu? yum
Princess Pampering Party? Sign me up!
Dress up like pretty princesses, or make tiaras and have a tea party! :]
definitely make tiaras with ribbons streaming down the back. also eat cucumber sandwiches. maybe drink lemonade from teacups.

Your picnic sounds delish. You WOULD make an awesome wife! Wifey!! haha.
I love your comment about your cold roasted chicken.
Great, now I'm hungry.
Cassidy, that was AMAZING! I forgot about that!
Yum, the picnic sounds amazing.
We always have fun with dress up. We do nails, hair, clothes, you know the works. Then we take pictures. Good luck!
Got boys...sorry. Take em to Walmart
Can I come? That is the perfect picnic menu. . . hmm. I need food now. . .
I live my life in themes as well.
The theme I prefer is, "Can I wear my pajamas?"
Sounds like a very lovely picnic!
So. The best party I idea that is Princess themed revolves around the movie "The Little Princess." What you do is watch that movie, wear cute pajamas that make you feel like you're wearing Indian clothes, and then eat Indian naan bread (or if you're rich- Indian food). We put pillows all over the floor and draped sheets to give it an Indian palace feeling. Painting your nails during the movie is a grand idea. It's fun times.
Oh! And I nearly forgot! We also did makeup, which was pretty simple. It was mostly lots of eyeliner and eye shadow for the dramatic classic Indian woman look. The third eye was pretty fun for the girls. That little dot just makes people feel awesome.
